Brilliant Czech surrealist filmmaker/animator/madman Jan Svankmajer is such a no brainer for Cult Cut that I almost didn't think to post any of his work. He's been a huge influence on my work, whether you see it or not, I've written academic papers on his revolting art (art inspired to/for revolution)
His Cold War-era work is truly astounding, a testament to artistic will triumphing under an oppressive regime. In 1988 he created ALICE (Neco z Alenky) a radical adaptation of Louis Carroll's classic surrealist masterpiece Alice in Wonderland. It defies description. Check out the trailer is you are curious.
