Clive Barker's Book Of Blood (2009) NSFW

The eponymous story from Clive Barker's debut collections the Books of Blood finally gets an adaptation of sorts to the big screen. This is the seventh film adaptation from the short story collection that prompted Stephen King to make the fateful blurb "I have have seen the future of horror and his name is Clive Barker." Which was a lot to live up to.
Taking the less than 15 page "Book of Blood" short story (Books of Blood Vol. 1) and combining it with "on Jerusalem Street: a postscript" (from Books of Blood Vol. 6 UK edition-published as Cabal in the USA) The Film tells the story of Mary Florescu (Sophie Ward) a paranormal researcher who works with a young clairvoyant (BBC Robin Hood himself the delectable Jonas Armstrong) to crack open the secrets of a possibly haunted house, the scene of several unexplained violent (and we do mean VIOLENT) crimes. The dead have stories to tell and an unfortunate means in which to do so.
I'll leave the rest to been seen as the film it's not for the squeamish but it is in fact a gorgeously lens film with some very sexy imagery and thankfully being Clive Barker a good smattering of gorgeous male nudity (more on that in a bit). The film is somber, quiet, and much of the light is faint light reflecting on bare skin in the dark giving the film a warm amber glow in the dark. The framing device (from "On Jerusalem Street") let's the viewer know the end will be unpleasant but getting there is so worth the journey into darkness. The film had a significantly lower budget than the last Books of Blood story to hit (some ) big screens the gorgeously stylish The Midnight Meat Train (which starred a pre-Hangover Bradley Cooper, Vinnie Jones and Brooke Shields) but the evocative cinematography and the Edinburgh locales add to the atmospheric tension of the film. As a life long fan of Barker's work I found this to be a really solid adaptation of his work and a very grown-up horror film with distinctly British flair. Check out the fairly frightening trailer below.

Jonas Armstrong shows off his gorgeous body in Book of Blood (it's sorta required of the story once you get into it.) Check out the NSFW shots below.

Despite the gorgeous naked man i was till like GET OUT OF THAT HOUSE during this scene.

even sliced and diced that's a great ass.
